I thought there was a way to link your own POI back into built-in categories. I've been searching the site but can't seem to find it again. Is there a way to do this or was I just dreaming?

Yes, there is. Keep in mind, tho, that when you link these into existing POI categories, you will NOT have your custom category available when you are on the road. For example, if your custom POI is Wendys and you want to link it to Restaurants, only the Restaurants category will show up on your TomTom's Category selection. This means if you are on the road and find a new Wendys, you cannot add this new POI to the Wendys category 'on the fly' because it won't exist as a selection.

Follow these instructions:
1) Create a text file with the exact name of your *.ov2 file and with the extension *.inf
---> For example: Wendys.inf
2) Open the file with notepad and follow these key strokes:
---> [ENTER]
---> [ENTER]
---> [ENTER]
---> *7315

NOTE: There are 3 blank lines and then the number associated with the category you want to marry the POI to (don't forget the asterisk)

Here is a list of POI categories and their corresponding number association:

tomtom Places of worship is very lame

I don't know where you think that your TomTom is going to be used but if it's being used in the United States it should include Christian churches . I am taking my tomtom back to costco and changing it in for a garmin.

Destinations should be announced right or left

I used a garmin for a couple of days and then I thought I would try at TomTom I'm very disappointed in it because it does not announce your destination on the right or left it just says you have arrived at your destination. C'mon Tom Tom get up with the 21st century . Garmin can do it why can't you

The POI's on the 910 show practically every church in my home area and they are nearly all Christian churches. And as posted already my unit also indicates the side of the road but does not announce it.
